7 ways to enjoy Platja d'Aro in October
Summer may be coming to an end, but there is no reason to stop enjoying the Costa Brava. Platja d’Aro in October offers the perfect combination of nature, gastronomy, culture and activities to discover the destination from a different perspective. If you are planning a getaway, here are seven ways to enjoy Platja d’Aro in autumn.
1. Walk along the Camí de Ronda by the Mediterranean
October’s milder temperatures are perfect for getting outdoors and exploring one of the sections of the Camí de Ronda. The route between S’Agaró and Sa Conca offers beautiful coastal scenery, coves and Mediterranean landscapes without the intense summer heat.
2. Discover the charm of S’Agaró
October is also a great time to take a leisurely stroll through S’Agaró and discover its unique combination of architecture, gardens and Mediterranean landscapes. It is a different way to experience the Costa Brava, beyond its beaches.
3. Step back in time in Castell d’Aro
Just a few minutes from Platja d’Aro lies Castell d’Aro, with its medieval old town. Its streets, castle and surroundings offer a glimpse into another side of the municipality, combining coastline and heritage in the same getaway.
4. Enjoy the Beer Festival
From 8 to 12 October, Plaça del Mil·lenari hosts the Beer Festival, one of the main food and entertainment events of autumn in Platja d’Aro. International and craft beers, gastronomy and live music make these days a great opportunity to experience the local atmosphere.
5. Take part in La Cursa de RAC1
On 18 October, Platja d’Aro will host La Cursa de RAC1. Its 5-kilometre route takes runners through some of the municipality’s most emblematic areas, including the seafront promenade and Parc dels Estanys. A different option for those who enjoy sport and outdoor events.
6. Enjoy an evening of theatre
October Fridays come with cultural entertainment thanks to the Nits de Cafè-Teatre programme, taking place on 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 October. It is a great way to round off an autumn day with an evening of culture and entertainment.
7. Savour the Costa Brava at your own pace
Autumn is also a wonderful time to sit down and enjoy the local cuisine of Platja d’Aro. Traditional dishes combine the flavours of sea and land, with fish, seafood, rice dishes, hearty stews, meat and Mediterranean flavours.
